Participating in the debate on the motion of thanks to the Governor’s address, Congress legislator Harshwardhan Chauhan said it was because of the divisive and communal politics of the BJP that Delhi today was burning.

“Who is responsible for 48 people having lost their lives in the violence across Delhi,” he quipped. He added that the RSS had no contribution whatsoever in India’ freedom, a fact admitted by veteran BJP leader Lal Krishan Advani in his book.

Chauhan lamented that while on the one hand the youth are falling prey to drugs, the government on the other has made liquor cheap and allowed bars to remain open till 2 am. “Rather than taking steps to protect them from this menace, the BJP regime is making liquor cheaper”.

There were repeated interventions and counter attacks from both sides during the debate, which carried on till late in the evening.

He also accused the BJP leaders of providing shelter to those indulging in illegal mining. Participating in the debate, Col Inder Singh (retd) said the Opposition is plagued by negativity and criticism. Palampur MLA Ashish Butail stated that the Governor’s address was unconstitutional as it should have been delivered when he came to the house first time this year.
