Heavy rain in Kangra for 2nd day

Heavy to very heavy rain continued to lash parts of Kangra for the second consecutive day today. Shahpur was the wettest with 264 mm of rain, followed by Dharamsala 230 mm, and Palampur 210 mm.

The local Met office has issued a yellow warning of thunderstorm, lightning and heavy rain in six to 10 districts for the next three days.

Moderate to heavy rain lashed several parts of Himachal. Nagrota Surian and Guler received 154 mm of rain each, followed by Gaggal 149 mm, Paonta Sahib 136 mm, Jatton Barrage 135 mm, Jogindernagar 124 mm, Baijnath 115 mm, Kheri 96 mm, Una 88 mm, Solan 79 mm, Sujanpur Tira 72 mm, Mandi 70 mm; Udaipur and Shilaroo 60 mm each, Tissa 58 mm, Kotkhai 61 mm; Rajgarh, Narkanda and Dehra Gopipur 54 mm each, Dalhousie 50 mm, Kandaghat and Rohru 49 mm each, Ghamroor 48 mm, Kufri 41 mm, Chamba 38 mm and Shimla 36 mm.

As many as 110 roads were blocked and 266 electricity transformers were damaged. A maximum of 55 roads were blocked in Kangra district, 17 in Sirmaur, 10 each in Shimla and Kullu, nine in Chamba, five in Mandi, three in Lahaul and Spiti, and one in Kinnaur while no roads were blocked in Bilaspur, Hamirpur, Solan and Una districts. — TNS
