Heavy rain to continue till July 14; flashflood warning for Himachal Pradesh's 8 districts

Heavy rainfall is likely to continue across the state as the Hydromet Division of the state’s Meteorological Department has issued a flashflood warning for eight districts for the next 24 hours. As per the department, there will be low to moderate risk of flashfloods in watersheds and neighbourhoods of Shimla, Kangra, Solan, Kullu, Mandi, Sirmaur, Chamba and Una districts, resulting in inundation at some fully saturated soils and low-lying areas of these districts.

Also, a yellow warning of heavy rain in isolated areas of the district till July 14 has been issued. As per the Meteorological Department, light to moderate rain is likely to continue in the state till July 14 with a few spells of heavy rain at isolated places on July 14.

Meanwhile, the state experienced light to moderate rain in isolated areas of the state over the past 24 hours. Pachhad in Sirmaur district received the highest 110 mm of rain, followed by Gohar in Mandi district (90 mm), Baijnath (60 mm), Nahan (54.2 mm), Kasauli (40 mm), Rajgarh in Solan district (30 mm), Shimla (19 mm), Kangra (11.9 mm) and Mandi (11.2 mm).

Shimla recorded a maximum temperature of 23.6°C, Kufri (20.7°C), Dharamsala (29°C), Manali (26°C), Solan (29.5°C), Kangra (31.2°C), Mandi (32.4°C), Bhuntar (34.4°C), Sundernagar (33°C), Bilaspur (33.8°C), Hamirpur (34.3°C), Nahan (26.7°C), Narkanda (20°C) and Reckong Peo (30.5°C).

At 34.2°C, Una was the hottest place in the state while Tabo village in Lahaul and Spiti was the coldest at 12.1°C.
