The Chamba Jan Hit Sangathan has urged Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur to connect tourist towns such as Dalhousie, Dharamsala, Manali and Shimla by heli-taxi.
Sangathan convener Shadi Lal Sharma and president Kishor Baroo said here today that Chamba district had the potential to attract tourists, but it was not accessible to them.
To promote tourism in a big way, the district needed connectivity by heli-taxi service and the Railways, they said. “The state already has helipads at district headquarters which can be used for launching heli-taxi services to Shimla and Chandigarh,” they demanded.
They also said a railway line should be laid from Jassur (Nurpur) near Pathankot to Chamba so that it became easy for the tourists to visit the area.
