Shimla, March 1
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that the party high command would take the final call on the return of six rebel MLA to the Congress. At the same time, it remains unknown what course of action the six disqualified MLA would take.
Amid speculation that Public Works Department Minister Vikramaditya Singh may join the BJP, Sukhu said that the minister had apprised him about his desire to go and meet the six rebel MLAs. “He has spoken with me thrice since last night and expressed his desire to meet them. I told him that he was free to do so but eventually Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and the top party leadership will take the call on their return to the party fold,” he added.
Not in touch with Sukhu: Disqualified MLAs
- They are not in touch with the Chief Minister and his claims that they want to return to the party are absolutely false, said Rajinder Rana, disqualified Sujanpur MLA
- Vikramaditya Singh attended the Cabinet meeting but did not use the official vehicle. He reportedly left before the Cabinet meeting got over as he had plans to go somewhere
- Though the observers have intervened to resolve the crisis, Vikramaditya Singh and his mother Pratibha Singh still look dissatisfied with the state of affairs in Himachal
Meanwhile, the six MLAs have taken the Chief Minister’s remarks amid uncertainty with a pinch of salt. “None of us is in touch with the Chief Minister and his claims that we want to return to the party are absolutely false,” said Rajinder Rana, disqualified MLA from Sujanpur in Hamirpur. The six MLAs huddled in a Panchkula hotel are yet to approach court against their disqualification.
The videos of Vikramaditya coming out of a hotel in Panchkula went viral on social media. Though the observers have intervened to resolve the crisis, Vikramaditya and his mother Pratibha Singh still look dissatisfied with the state of affairs in Himachal.
Vikramaditya attended the Cabinet meeting but he did not use the official vehicle and came in his personal vehicle. He reportedly left before the meeting got over as he was to go somewhere. Pratibha, too, was candid enough to admit that it would take some time for things to settle down.
Sukhu said, “Vikramaditya is likely to meet the high command to discuss the issue of the return of the six disqualified MLAs. Their families have also spoken with our leaders and stated that they will like to return to the Congress.”
However, the Chief Minister said, “How can I speak with the rebels when they are sitting in a Panchkula hotel. Let them come to Himachal, then we will think about talking to them.” Yesterday, at a press conference in the presence of the central observers, Sukhu had said that he believed in forgiveness and if they (rebels) had made a mistake, they could still come back.
