The Himachal Pradesh High Court today extended the interim relief granted to former Managing Director of HP Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL) Harikesh Meena in the case related to the death of Chief Engineer Vimal Negi.

During the course of hearing, the police filed a supplementary status report and after taking it on record, the court listed the matter for further consideration on May 2.

In its earlier order, while granting interim protection, the court had directed the police not to take any coercive action against Meena.

Justice Virender Singh had passed this interim order on an anticipatory bail plea filed by Meena.

The body of Vimal Negi, a Chief Engineer of the HPPCL, was found in the Gobind Sagar Lake in Bilaspur on March 18. After Negi went missing on March 10, his wife wrote a letter to the Chief Minister alleging therein that higher officials of the HPPCL were harassing her husband. Acting on the complaint, an FIR was lodged at New Shimla police station.

Negi’s wife has alleged that the accused used to pressurise her husband to do wrong things.
