High-mast lights defective
The Nagar Panchayat, Jawali, had installed five high-mast lights in the town by spending Rs 25 lakh a few years ago, but two of them installed in the Civil Hospital compound and at Labh Chowk have been non-functional for the past one year. The authorities concerned have failed to rectify the problem. The solar lights installed in different locations, four years ago, by the then Jawali gram panchayat have also become mere showpieces, as none of them are working. The whole nagar panchayat area plunges into darkness in the night, causing inconvenience to the residents. The present nagar panchayat has failed to repair the batteries of solar street lights. — Ravi Kumar, former president, Jawali Nagar Panchayat
Government decisions confusing
The decisions being taken on a daily basis in the wake of the Covid-19 panademic are causing confusion among the residents of the state as well as the outsiders, who wish to travel here. When the government took the decision to allow inter-district movement, the news was published in this regard, but the notification was not communicated to the police. As a result, commuters had to face inconvenience. Same is the case with the timings of opening and closing of shops, as well as quarantine conditions for people coming from other states. — Aman, a resident
