Shimla, December 28

The Him Suraksha Abhiyan, a door-to-door active Covid case-finding mission launched by the government on November 25, has been extended by a week. The campaign was scheduled to conclude on December 27. “Our teams have so far covered around 85 per cent of the population. So, we have given them another week to cover the entire population,” said NHM Mission Director Nipun Jindal.

The government had formed around 8,000 teams comprising staff of the Health Department, Ayurveda and Women and Child Developments for the campaign. Apart from detecting Covid cases and making people aware of related steps in case of a positive case in the house, the teams gathered information on other health parameters such as TB, leprosy, diabetes, blood pressure etc. The government will use the information gathered through this campaign to identify people with co-morbidities for vaccination. — TNS
