Himachal a land of Gods, it’s essential to preserve our cultural heritage: Minister

It is essential to preseve our cultural heritage so that our traditions are safeguarded till eternity, said Education Minister Rohit Thakur while participating in the consecration ceremony of the newly constructed palanquin of a local deity at Giltari village in Jubbal of Shimla district on Saturday.

The minister said, “Himachal Pradesh is known as the land of Gods and its devta culture has a unique and special identity that is not found anywhere else in the world. The fairs and festivals celebrated in the state reflect its vibrant culture.”

He said, “Our culture teaches us the values of mutual love, harmony and togetherness. While on the one hand, we must advance with everyone in today’s modern scientific and global era, on the other, it is equally important to stay connected to our ancient and original cultural roots.”

Rohit said that the village temple was built in 2022 and the palanquin, which was constructed six months ago, was consecrated by observing full Vedic rituals and chanting mantras today. The construction of a road to Giltari village was also completed in 2023. “The village women organised a beautiful Kalash Yatra,” he added.
