In view of the financial crisis the state is facing, Gokul Butail, Principal Adviser to the Chief Minister (Innovation, Digital Technologies and Governance), today decided to accept an honorarium of Re 1 per month.

In a letter addressed to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, Butail, who holds a Cabinet rank, said, “As a matter of personal commitment and solidarity in light of the financial challenges being faced by the state, I have decided to accept only Re 1 as token salary instead of Rs 2.50 lakh per month that I am entitled to. Given the prevailing financial crunch and the need for fiscal measures, I have decided to voluntarily surrender my salary and accept only Re 1 from April 2024 to March 31, 2025.”

Subsequently, the Department of General Administration issued an order stating that Butail would be paid Re 1 as honorarium from January 1 to December 31 this year.
