Cambridge International School (CIS), located in Mohal, 4 km from here, hosted a programme to celebrate Himachal Day, Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti. The event, held on the school premises, showcased the rich cultural heritage, traditions and historical significance of the state.

The festivities began on a spiritual note with a prayer. Students expressed their perspectives through eloquent speeches and recitations of poems centred on the importance of Himachal Day. Inspirational speeches honouring the contributions of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar added a motivational dimension to the celebration.

Kindergarten students delighted the audience with their traditional dances themed around the Baisakhi festival, bringing an element of joy and vibrancy to the event. Younger students from classes I and II participated in the ‘colour splash’ activity, where they showcased their artistic skills by colouring Himachali traditional border designs.

The event took attendees on a gastronomic journey with the ‘Flavours of Himachal’ food festival, organised by students from classes III to V. They presented a variety of traditional Himachali cuisines and regional delicacies. The ‘Indigenous Craft and Food Grain’ exhibition by students of classes VI and VII highlighted the region’s local craftsmanship and agricultural heritage.

Students of Class VIII mesmerised the audience with the ‘Timeless Structure of Himachal Pradesh’ exhibition, featuring detailed models, paintings and drawings of iconic monuments from the region. The ‘Roots and Rhythms of Himachal’ programme presented by students of Class IX resonated with melodious tunes of traditional Himachali instruments. Class X students followed this with the ‘Celebrating the Timeless Dances of Himachal’ performance, showcasing various traditional dance styles.

An inter-house quiz was held for classes XI and XII where participants demonstrated their knowledge on Himachal Day, Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti through thought-provoking questions and answers.

Eminent social figure Shraddha Sharma graced the occasion as the special guest. She commended the presentations by the children and lauded the dedication of teachers in imparting the significance of these historic figures and events to the students.

Principal Raina Verma emphasised the importance of nurturing cultural awareness alongside academic excellence. She stated, “Our aim is not only to empower students academically, but also to connect them to their roots.
