Himachal: Holi symbolises love, spirit of brotherhood, says Negi
The Minister of Revenue, Horticulture, Tribal Development and Redressal of Public Grievances, Jagat Singh Negi, attended the Holi festival at Sangla in Kinnaur district as the chief guest, saying Holi, which was the festival of colours, symbolised love, affection and the spirit of brotherhood.
While extending his wishes to people of the state, Negi said the festival attracted people from across the country and around the world, who came together to enjoy the celebrations.
He also said the current state government was always eager to promote traditional festivals and celebrations, and that given the increasing number of tourists in Kinnaur, the Sangla Valley would be made more convenient for tourism, with plans to enhance both basic and modern amenities.
He assured them that the ongoing sewer project in Sangla would be completed by July. He also announced that Rs 3 lakh would be donated from the voluntary fund to the Bering Nag Holi Club, Sangla.
Later, he participated as the chief guest in the ‘Atharoh’ ceremony at the Usha Mata Temple complex in Nichar, which was being held after 18 years. During the event, he met with the Usha Mata Temple Committee and heard the grievances of locals. He assured them that all reasonable demands would be addressed in a phased manner.
