The project was launched by Union Minister of Agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar during a virtual ceremony.

Tomar said the facility with advanced technology would be a boon to students and farmers. It would enable students and teachers to remain in touch with each other, he said. Similarly, farmers sitting in far flung areas could be approached virtually, the minister said. The scientists could get inputs and guidance from national and international institutes, Tomar added. He said the facility would also be used by the State Agriculture Department and other departments engaged in the welfare of farmers.

Dr HK Chaudhry, VC, said the new state of the art facilities were funded and established under the Indian CAR and the World Bank-funded National Agricultural Higher Education Project. — OC
