Himachal Pradesh Forest Sports & Duty Meet: Dharamsala Forest Circle tops medal tally with over 20 medals
The Dharamsala Forest Circle emerged as the overall champion at the 26th Himachal Pradesh Forest Sports and Duty Meet-2025, held in Chamba from November 2 to 4. Demonstrating remarkable consistency and teamwork, Dharamsala Circle secured the top position by winning a total of 22 medals, including nine gold, six silver and seven bronze, outshining all competing forest circles across the state.
A 65-member contingent from Dharamsala Circle participated in over 14 sporting and cultural events such as football, kabaddi, volleyball, basketball, badminton, athletics and the quiz competition. The team also bagged the March Past Parade Winner Trophy for the second consecutive year, reflecting their exceptional discipline and unity.
One of the major highlights was the gold medal victory in football, the first since 2016 — a testament to the players’ determination and cohesive effort. In the quiz competition, DFO Amit Sharma and Rahul Sharma brought home the gold, while ACF Daulat Ram added two gold medals in badminton, significantly boosting the medal tally.
Expressing pride in the team’s achievement, Basu Kaushal, Conservator of Forests, Dharamsala Forest Circle (IFS), said, “This victory reflects not just our sporting spirit but also the dedication and discipline that define the Himachal Pradesh Forest Department. The gold in football and our continued success in the March Past are results of tireless hard work and team coordination.”
