Himachal: Rs 100-crore water project proposed for Bhattiyat villages

Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania on Tuesday said that a project worth Rs 100 crore has been proposed to ensure consistent water supply to remote gram panchayats in the Bhattiyat Assembly constituency. This initiative aims to provide a permanent solution to drinking water issues for the next 20-25 years in these areas.

Pathania was addressing a public gathering after laying the foundation stone for the construction of the Baridhar link road at Gatliyala di Dhar village. Continuing the series of foundation stone ceremonies, he also initiated the construction of the Jajri Gala-Samana Basa link road under Parchhod gram panchayat.

The Speaker informed that approximately Rs 3 crore would be spent on the construction of these three link roads. He directed the departmental officers concerned to complete the construction work within the stipulated timeframe.

Pathania assured the expansion of the Patka-Hathidhar link road up to Chhatreel village via Baridhar. He revealed a plan to spend Rs 18 crore over the next two years to upgrade this road, which will include constructing safety walls and paving the surface.

Earlier, addressing residents near Dehar Khadd, Pathania announced the commencement of the upgrade work for the Garnota-Tikri Samot and Patka-Raipur link roads. He also disclosed plans for the construction of the Dehar Khadd Lift Irrigation Scheme, which will cost Rs 14 crore.

Speaking at Jajri Gala, he highlighted that nearly 150 villages in the Bhattiyat constituency still lack road connectivity. He assured the residents that all villages would be connected by roads by 2026.

During these programmes, the Speaker also listened to the grievances of the people and resolved most of them on the spot.
