Himachal to get Rs 10,351 crore from Central revenue: MoS Harsh Malhotra

Shimla, July 27

Minister of State Harsh Malhotra here today said that Himachal Pradesh will receive Rs 10,351.82 crore from central revenue, which is remarkable.

Addressing a press conference here today, Malhotra said the state had benefited a lot in terms of infrastructure as a provision of Rs 11,11,000 crore had been made for infrastructure across the country, which is 3.4 per cent of the country’s GDP.

“The work is underway on many state highways in the state and all these projects will get a huge boost in this Budget. “The work is in progress on the Pathankot-Mandi four-lane at Rs 10,067 crore, Mataur-Shimla four-lane at Rs 10,512 crore, Kiratpur-Mandi-Kullu-Manali four-lane at Rs 13,784 crore, Pinjore-Baddi-Nalagarh four-lane at Rs 1,692 crore, Parwanoo-Solan-Kaithlighat-Shimla four-lane at Rs 7,632 crore,” said the minister.

“The work on five tunnels worth Rs 2,472 crore has been done on Pathankot-Mandi road, three tunnels worth Rs 1,747 crore on Matour-Shimla, four tunnels worth Rs 5,632 crore on Kiratpur-Mandi-Kullu-Manali, four tunnels worth Rs 1,231 crore on Parwanoo-Solan-Kaithlighat-Shimla,” he said.

He added that the state had also received a big budget for railways, which will also strengthen the rail infrastructure in the state. The work of Bhanupali-Bilaspur, Nangal-Talwara and Chandigarh-Baddi railway line will be expedited. “Shimla, Palampur, Baijnath Paprola and Amb-Andaura will be made world-class railway stations,” he added.

“The Budget for railway development in Himachal Pradesh is 25 times what was issued during the tenure of the previous UPA-led Central Government,” said Malhotra.

Highlighting the disaster that occurred in the state last year due to torrential rains, the minister said that an amount of Rs 1,782 crore as disaster relief was immediately granted. He said that Central Government had granted Rs 1,100 crore for MNREGA as well as 11,000 houses to the state.

“The Central Government is always standing shoulder to shoulder with Himachal Pradesh,” he concluded.
