Himachal to receive heavy rain on September 13, 14

Yellow weather warning issued; 684 roads still blocked

Himachal Pradesh is set to witness another spell of heavy rainfall on September 13 and 14 as the State’s Meteorological Department has issued yellow weather warnings for many districts.

According to the department, yellow warnings have been issued for Kangra, Hamirpur, Una, Bilaspur, Sirmour districts for September 13, resulting in thunderstorms and lightning in isolated areas of these districts. Similarly, yellow weather warning has also been issued for Shimla, Mandi, Solan along with Una, Kangra, Bilaspur, Hamirpur and Sirmaur districts for September 14.

The department has forecast that the state will continue to witness light to moderate rain till September 15. During this period, maximum temperatures are also very likely to rise by 2°C to 3°C while minimum temperatures will remain normal.

Also, as many as 684 roads, including four National Highways (NHs) still remain blocked for vehicular traffic, affecting the connectivity across the state.

As per the State’s Emergency Operations Centre, around 216 roads, including NH 03 and NH 305 are closed in Kullu district, 158 in Mandi, 88 in Shimla, 53 in Sirmaur, 48 in Chamba, 44 in Kangra, 23 including NH 70 in Una, 21 in Solan, 19 in Bilaspur, seven in Lahaul and Spiti, four including NH 05 in Kinnaur and three in Hamirpur district. Apart from this, as many as 1,202 transformers including 708 in Kullu, 282 in Mandi, 78 in Sirmour, 52 in Shimla, 51 in Lahaul and Spiti and 31 in Chamba district along with 423 water supply schemes including 176 in Kangra, 134 in Shimla, 54 in Mandi, 30 in Chamba, 18 in Sirmour, six in Kullu and five in Solan districts also remain disrupted, leaving many parts of these districts without electricity and drinking water supply.
