Himachal to receive snowfall, rain on November 4-5; cold wave expected
Western Disturbance likely to bring light snow to higher hills and rain across the state, temperatures to drop sharply
Himachal Pradesh is set to receive a fresh spell of snowfall and rainfall on November 4 and 5, according to the State’s Meteorological Department.
A fresh Western Disturbance is likely to influence the western Himalayan region from the night of November 3, resulting in snowfall and rain in many parts of the state.
The higher hills, including Lahaul and Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu, Kangra, and Chamba, are expected to witness light snowfall at isolated places, while the rest of the state will experience light rain.
During this period, minimum temperatures are expected to drop by 2°C to 5°C, and maximum temperatures by 3°C to 6°C, creating cold wave conditions in several areas.
Meanwhile, the weather remained mostly dry across the state, with most regions enjoying a bright sunny day.
Temperatures recorded in key towns included: Shimla 12°C, Dharamshala 11.8°C, Manali 6.1°C, Kangra 13.5°C, Mandi 13.9°C, Bilaspur 13.9°C, Hamirpur 12.9°C, Kufri 11°C, Reckong Peo 8.4°C, Kasauli 14°C, Paonta Sahib 19°C, Sundernagar 11.8°C, Bhuntar 9.3°C, Solan 10.4°C, Palampur 10°C, Narkanda 8.9°C, Kalpa 4.7°C, and Keylong 0.7°C.
With a maximum of 31.2°C, Una was the hottest place, while Kukumseri village in Lahaul and Spiti recorded the coldest temperature at -1.9°C.
