HIMCOSTE organises eclipse viewing

Himachal Pradesh Science, Technology and Environment Council (HIMCOSTE) organised solar eclipse viewing programmes through solar filters at the State Secretariat, Chhota Shimla, and Padam Dev Complex, Ridge Maidan, Shimla. The solar eclipse started at 10:23 AM and ended at 1:48 PM. The event is part of the Council’s science promotion and dissemination programme. Its purpose was to make people aware of eclipse science and eradicate the myths associated with such incidents. This provides an opportunity to students, teachers and scientists to understand astronomical phenomena and space science.

Online yoga session held

The NSS volunteers of Government Model Senior Secondary School, Junga, conducted an online yoga session to mark the International Yoga Day. The volunteers arranged video conferencing and gave useful tips about yoga to the students sitting at home. Principal Anita Pathania said yoga was useful for physical and mental health and was a guide to spiritualism. A session was also conducted by Tripta Sharma, NCC in charge, Government Girls Model Senior Secondary School, Potmore, in which over 50 cadets participated.

Classes X, XII supplementary exams

The students who got compartment in Class X and XII examinations conducted by Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE) and the students interested in division improvement can appear in supplementary examinations. The interested students are required to fill the examination forms online between June 22 to July 21, 2020, along with prescribed fees. No application would be accepted after the last date, Suresh Soni, Chairman of the Board, said.

International Yoga Day celebrated

MCM DAV Senior Secondary Public School, Baghni (Nurpur), celebrated International Yoga Day. Students and teachers took part in the celebrations with enthusiasm. A video of school yoga teacher performing various asanas, along with elaborating their importance in life, was sent to students. The students recorded themselves performing pranayam and asanas at home and uploaded these videos on the school WhatsApp group. Principal MR Rana encouraged the students to practice yoga regularly to remain physically fit and improve concentration.
