The Resident Welfare Association (RWA) of HIMUDA colonies in Shimla has demanded that the state government immediately withdraw its decision to transfer HIMUDA-owned land to the Municipal Corporation, Shimla.

The decision to oppose the move was taken during an RWA meeting, which also saw the formation of a new Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) to spearhead the resistance. A delegation from the JCC will soon meet Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu to submit a memorandum outlining their demands.

Members strongly criticised the order issued by the Principal Secretary (Urban Development), which formalised the handover of HIMUDA land to the MC, asserting they would not compromise on the interests of HIMUDA residents. The committee further warned that if the government fails to address their concerns, they will approach the court for redressal.
