‘Hold PGT exam in both Eng, Hindi’
The ABVP on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission chairman demanding that the upcoming Post Graduate Teachers examination be held in both English and Hindi languages. ABVP state secretary Manmohan said most of the students in the state were getting education in Hindi medium. In such a scenario, examination in only English language is unfair, they stated. The ABVP gave two days’ ultimatum to the commission to include Hindi language for examination. They said if their demand is not accepted, they would launch an agitation.
Now, steam lab (AI) at Tara Hall
A STEAM lab (Artificial Intelligence) was inaugurated at Loreto Convent Tara Hall School in Shimla on Wednesday. It is a “classroom of the future” where students create their understanding of science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics (STEAM). This space allows integration of curriculum rather than isolation, which corresponds to a constructivist approach to learning. One of the best things about STEAM is that it enables the students to discover the artists within them. Speaking on the occasion, former school Principal Sister A Nirmala expressed gratitude towards Mind Grind Robotics that helped in making this dream become a reality without government aid. She said she hoped that this initiative would change the course of the future as children would be trained with skills and they will have a vast set of opportunities in front of them to choose from. The laboratory was inaugurated by Deputy Director, Higher Education, Sonia Thakur, who was very pleased with the set-up. Various tools and components like multi-meter, solder, drone, 3D printer, circuits, display screen, hand robots were exhibited. School Principal Sister Goretti, school staff, Father T Raj were also present.
6 Cadets pass first stage of NTSE
As many as six cadets of Sainik School, Sujanpur Tira, namely Suman, Shubham Prashar, Shubham Kashyap, Abhimanyu, Ankit and Ankur, qualified the first stage of the National Talent Search Exam (NTSE)-2019. The NTSE exam was held in November 2019. Six cadets of the school have been selected for the next stage of NTSE that is scheduled for May. Significantly, after qualifying the second stage of the NTSE, top 2,000 students in India would get a scholarship of Rs 2,000 per month till their post-graduation. Principal AK Paul and staff of the school congratulated the cadets.
Medal haul by nurpur students
Students of Sacred Soul Cambridge School, Nurpur, gave a good performance in various Olympiads organised by the international agency SOF. Students won 12 gold, eight silver and 12 bronze medals. Manvi, Sangam Choudhary, Yashasvi Thakur, Priyani Sharma, Priyanshi, Lubhani Rana and Sarvesh won gold medals while Sarvi, Ritika Thakur and Sangam Choudhary qualified first level and appeared in the second level of exam. Principal Tarsem Kumar Sharma and chairman Jagdish Singh gave away prizes to the students. Kumar said exams prepared students for competitive exams. He lauded the efforts put in by students and teachers.
175 exam centres in Chamba dist
As many as 175 examination centres have been set up in Chamba district for the annual examination to be conducted by the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBSE), Chamba DC Vivek Bhatia said. He said CCTV cameras had been installed at critical examination centres in the district and video recording of these cameras would remain intact for a month. In order to impose zero tolerance towards copying, a mechanism had been devised for the smooth conduct of examinations and special observers had been appointed besides flying squads for surprise checks in examination centres.
