Heavy rains have caused the collapse of the kitchen and store room of Tilaadhar High School, part of the Government Primary School in Dhangad panchayat, Dehra tehsil. The facilities, used to prepare midday meals for children, caved in after incessant rainfall.
Fortunately, the school was closed for holidays, averting a possible tragedy. Panchayat Pradhan Vipin Kumar said the damage was immediately reported and authorities are awaited for a field inspection to assess the loss.
School in-charge Naresh Kumar confirmed that food stock and other goods kept in the collapsed sections were buried under the debris. He has informed the Block Elementary Education Department at Nagarota Suriyan.
Parents have appealed to MLA Kamlesh Thakur for urgent funds to rebuild the damaged sections, stressing that children’s meals and education should not be disrupted. They also voiced concerns over construction quality and safety management, pointing out that a major mishap could have occurred had the collapse taken place during school hours.
