The couple ran a four-room homestay near Rasol, where some tourists were staying the night. Authorities suspect that these tourists may be responsible for the crime. Manikaran police station in-charge Sanjeev Walia inspected the scene with his team. Initial investigations suggest that the couple was assaulted with sticks and sharp weapons. The assailants remain unidentified.

After the incident, the villagers rushed the elderly man to the hospital and alerted the police. There is panic among the residents as this marks the first such incident in the area. ASP Sanjeev Chauhan said the tourists who were staying at the homestay are currently absconding and efforts are underway to locate them. He added that the police are thoroughly investigating the case.
