The residents of Spiti valley have decided to shut down all hotels and Home stays for tourists in wake of Covid-19 threat in coming days. The people took a unanimous decision that the hoteliers of the area will make arrangements at their own level to send back in the next three days the tourists who are staying in Kaza.
Padam Dorje, a resident of Spiti valley, said a request letter had been submitted to the local administration to bar the entry of tourists in Spiti valley from Sumdo ahead from Kinnaur side to Spiti valley. Kunzum pass is still closed for vehicular activity, so there is no chance for tourists to enter from Manali or Lahaul side.
He said, “We also urge the local administration to restrict the entry of migrant workers till next month until the scare of virus spread reduces in India.”
Agriculture Minister Ram Lal Markanda already asked the district administration Lahaul Spiti to take close vigil over movement of people and ensure the screening at entry point from Manali and Jammu and Kashmir side in the district. — TNS
