Hope Himachal ex-CM Jai Ram Thakur has learnt a lesson, says Congress leader Naresh Chauhan
Shimla, July 17
State Congress vice-president Naresh Chauhan today said the public has given a clear message to the BJP that any conspiracy to topple a democratically elected government would not succeed.
“Through their votes, the people have told the BJP that dirty politics will not be accepted in the country and the state. In a democracy, the public opinion must always be respected,” said Chauhan.
Chauhan added that Leader of Opposition Jai Ram Thakur had probably learnt his lesson from the byelection results and would now play a constructive role.
“Jai Ram Thakur has not given any date about when the government will fall after the results of the byelections. Hopefully, he has learnt his lesson,” said Chauhan. He further said that legislator Sudhir Sharma was getting overly enthusiastic after his victory as he was hobnobbing with the BJP’s national leaders in Delhi.
Chauhan highlighted that after the byelections, the number of Congress legislators has reached 40 again, which shows the faith of the public in the Congress government.
Chauhan said Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu was taking up state’s interests with Prime Minister Narendra Modi to secure financial aid for the state.
“The government will focus on developmental works and leave no stone unturned to further the interest of the state,” he said.
