Mandi, April 18
Hoteliers of Kullu-Manali have demanded relaxation in the payment of electricity bills saying that the tourism industry of Kullu-Manali was on the edge because of the ongoing lockdown across the nation.
Hotels of Kullu-Manali had been shut since March 23 in the wake of Covid-19 threat, which has affected the economy of hoteliers badly. They said they were feeling it difficult to pay the bills because there is no income from hotels.
Anup Thakur, president of the hoteliers association, Kullu-Manali, said, “We have received huge amount of electricity bills, especially hotels having above 20 KW load sanctioned. In the present circumstances it has become difficult to make the payment of these bills running into lakhs”, he said.
“We urge the state government that bills of the hotels having above 20 KW load capacity be allowed to pay in four installments and not in lump sum. The electricity charges of hotels below 20 KW load should be calculated on actual consumption basis and payment of bill should be allowed after lockdown phase” he said. — TNS
