Himachal Pradesh Agriculture University today organised a workshop for NABARD-sponsored projects at Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Sundernagar in which Nilay D Kapoor, Chief General Manager, NABARD, was the chief guest.

Addressing a gathering he said NABARD had sanctioned three projects amounting to Rs 41,40,500 under the Farm Secto Promotion Fund scheme which would be implemented by three KVKs of the university.

These projects have been sanctioned with the objective of promoting agriculture and allied activities for enhancing farmer’s income. He emphasised that entrepreneurship development was the main motto of NABARD and that could only be achieved through capacity building of farmers in new and innovative farm enterprises/ technologies. In this workshop, the university and NABARD signed an MoU for implementing projects under Farm Sector Promotion Fund . On behalf of NABRAD, Nilay D Kapoor, CGM, and Dr YP Thakur, Director, Extension Education, Palampur university signed the MoU.

Dr Thakur said all three projects sanctioned by the NABRAD would be carried on by KVK, Mandi, Sirmaur and Una. In these projects, farmers would be imparted skill development trainings under the areas of agriculture, protected cultivation, vegetable cultivation, including off-season, exotic, mushroom cultivation and dairy farming, etc. Earlier, Dr Pankaj Sood, Programme Coordinator, KVK, Mandi, welcomed the chief guest, other dignitaries and farmers.
