Himachal Pradesh Chief Election Officer (CEO), Anil Kumar Khachi presided over a meeting with district officials in Una today to review the preliminary preparations for elections to the panchayati raj institutions and urban bodies proposed to be held later this year. He said prior planning and due preparations are necessary for smooth and fair conduct of the electoral process.
The Chief Election Officer directed officials to make a thorough study of the Electoral Act, rules and guidelines issued from time to time by the Election Commission. He emphasised that all officers and employees should get timely clarification in case of any doubts related to the electoral process, so that smooth execution of elections could be ensured. He said the officers should pay special attention to complete the process of preparing the voter list with utmost vigilance and caution.
He underlined the need for record-keeping of various processes involved in the electoral process, maintenance of registers and ensuring timely entries. He informed that the election department will organise proper training workshops for all officers and employees concerned.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Mahendra Pal Gurjar assured that guidelines of the election department will be strictly adhered. District Election Officer Rajeev Mahajan, Assistant Commissioner Virender Sharma, SDMs from all five sub-divisions of Una district and District Panchayat Officer Shravan Kumar were also present at the meeting.
