HP tech varsity to have PhD in CSE

The Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) will start PhD in Computer Science Engineering from the coming session.

This was decided in the 24th meeting of the academic council held here today. The meeting was chaired by SP Bansal, Vice-Chancellor of the university.

The VC said the academic council recommended starting Ph.D programme in Computer Science Engineering under the School of Engineering and Technology on the university campus here.

He said to encourage environment protection and conservation, the university had decided to give extra credits to students who would participate in tree plantation drives.

He said the vision of the university was to improve and enhance quality education. The mission also focused on making students job providers not job seekers.

Bansal said the university had signed an MoU with the Himachal Pradesh Commerce and Management Association to promote the university academia interaction, research, journal publication, conferences and extension activities.

He said an MoU with Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Una was signed to design curriculum, workshops, faculty development programme, placement of students, research and development and skill development programmes.

The academic council also approved to facilitate migration of students from university to it affiliated colleges and vice-verse, he added.

The meeting was attended by Prof Kulbhushan Chandel, Dean, Academic-Cum-Registrar, Prof Rajender Guleria, Dean (Pharmacy), Dr Dhirendera Sharma, Dean, (Engineering), Dr DP Tiwari, Principal, Rajiv Gandhi Government.
