Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), Shimla, has extended the deadline for admissions in undergraduate and Shastri courses in all government and private colleges affiliated to the university to August 14.
A notification regarding this order was issued here today. As per the notification, all principals have been directed to comply with the orders and consider admissions of students in undergraduate and Shastri classes till August 14.
The decision has been taken to help students who were not able to apply for admissions in time. Student bodies such as the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the Students’ Federation of India (SFI) had been demanding that the deadline for admissions be extended.
45% pass BSc 1st yr exams
According to the results declared by HPU here today, only 45.01 per cent of students who appeared in the Bachelor of Science (BSc) first year (annual) exams held in April this year were able clear them.
In the exam, 5,768 students from all colleges affiliated to the university had appeared.
Controller of Examination Shyam Lal Kaushal said the results of 231 students were unsettled as these students had either not filled the examination forms or had opted for wrong optional papers.
The university had also declared the result of BSc first year (re-appear) examinations, in which 99.31 per cent of those who appeared cleared the exam, he added.
