The Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE) will hold the common entrance test for two-year diploma in elementary education on July 7. The entrance exam will be held at the designated examination centres across the state. In all, 24,360 candidates have applied for the entrance exam, but 3,122 applicants either sent incomplete forms or did not deposit the fees. For queries regarding the rejection of the application forms or name not being in the list despite the payment of the fees, the applicants can contact 01892-242192 or visit the website: www.hpbose.org.

Promote undergraduate students: NSUI

The Himachal unit of the NSUI has urged the state government to promote the students of undergraduate courses by holding the examinations, the way others states such as Maharashtra, Haryana and Chhattisgarh had done. The NSUI workers staged a demonstration in front of the office of the Deputy Commissioner, Shimla, and pressed for the withdrawal of 18 per cent GST on fees. Rubal Thakur and Prateek Sharma, secretary, state NSUI, said students were already stressed due to Covid-19 and the imposition of 18 per cent GST would burden them unnecessarily.

HPNLU VC Nishtha Jaswal honoured

The Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh National Law University (HPNLU), Nishtha Jaswal, received the International Extraordinary Women Award-2020 for her contribution to higher education in law. The award ceremony was organised by the International Women’s Club, Switzerland Chapter. The president of the club, Prof Bhumika Gupta, and Michele Boulade, president of Switzerland Chapter, congratulated Nishtha Jaswal. The HPNLU faculty and the staff wished the Vice-Chancellor good luck for her future endeavours at the international level.
