HPCL to set up ethanol plant in Una district
Shimla, January 18
Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said an ethanol plant would be set up at Jeetpur Behari in Una district. The plant would generate a monthly income of Rs 21 crore.
Sukhu presided over a meeting with officials of Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) here and discussed the modalities for setting up the plant at Jeetpur Behari. “The cost of construction of the plant will be shared equally by the HPCL and the state government. The state’s share will include the cost of land to be given by the government for construction,” he added.
Sukhu said once functional, the plant was expected to generate a revenue of Rs 21 crore per month and produce 1.5 lakh litres of ethanol per day. “The ethanol plant will also aid in pollution control and promote environmental protection. This industry will also play a far-reaching role in providing employment and self-employment opportunities, especially to the farmers in the area,” he remarked.
He directed the parties concerned to complete the construction of the plant within two years.
