Revenue, Horticulture and Tribal Development Minister Jagat Singh Negi said that the state government was making concerted efforts to promote and expand the nationwide sale of products manufactured by the Himachal Pradesh Horticulture Produce Marketing and Processing Corporation (HPMC).
During his inspection of the HPMC plant at Parwanoo, Negi said the corporation was focusing on diversifying its product range and enhancing quality standards. He highlighted that HPMC has adequate cold storage facilities and this year produced 860 metric tonnes (MT) of apple juice concentrate from 12,900 MT of apples. In addition, 32,000 MT of apples were auctioned through HPMC.
To support orchardists, he said, about 1,00,000 MT of apples were purchased at a support price of Rs 12/kg. Negi noted that the introduction of universal cartons has improved transportation efficiency and ensured the timely delivery of apples to markets.
