The HP Public Service Commission has changed some examination centres for the Himachal Pradesh Administrative Combined Competitive (Preliminary) examination scheduled to be held on September 13. In place of Shimla College of Education, Sanjauli, the exam will now be held at Rajkiya Kanya Mahavidyalya, Longwood, and Rajeev Gandhi Government Degree College, Kotshera. In place of Government Degree College, Sanjauli, Modern College of Education, Annadale, and HP College of Education, Airport Road, Totu, will be the new centres. In place of Hamirpur Public School, Ramnagar, Hamirpur, the exams will be held at Gautam College of Pharmacy, ward no. 10, Hamirpur. The candidates need to download the revised admit card and appear for the exams at the new centres.
Debate at School of Law, Shoolini
The School of Law, Shoolini University, constituted the Shoolini Debate and Discussion Society (SDDS) to encourage and develop debating skills among law students. A debate on 'Are media trials in contravention of Article 21 of the Indian Constitution' was conducted, wherein Justice SS Thakur (retired) was the patron-in-chief and Prof NK Gupta, Dean, School of Law, a patron. Justice SS Thakur said the young lawyers were the future of the nation. 'Team Ravenclaw', headed by Pallavi of BA-LLB, semester V, and Goutam Sharma, semester III, was declared the best team. Goutam Sharma was declared the best speaker. Vice-Chancellor Prof PK Khosla congratulated the winners.
ABVP launches signature campaign
The ABVP has started an online signature campaign in the HPU over 10 demands of the students. Prominent among the demands are continuation fee not to be charged from the hostellers, placement cells to be set up in the university, only tuition fee to be charged from the students, more examination centres to be set up and irregularities in paper checking to be removed. More than 350 students have signed the document in one day. The ABVP said if the university did not respond positively, the agitation would intensify.
