Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) has earned additional revenue of Rs 109.41 crore by generating electricity exceeding the targets from its hydel projects during 2019-20 — this revenue has been calculated on a national average power purchase cost of Rs 3.60 per KWh. The 126 MW Larji Hydel Project, 120 MW Sanjay Jal Vidyut Pariyojana, 66 MW Bassi power project and the 60 MW Giri project are the major projects of the HPSEB.
These projects, along with some other smaller ones such as 22.5 MW Ghanvi-I, 16.95 MW Andhra, 10 MW Ghanvi-II, 6 MW Binwa and 10.50 MW Gaj, have performed exceedingly well by generating more than the targets set by the Central electricity authority during 2019-20.
These powerhouses generated 454.99 MW energy against the target of 403.26 MW (18.36 per cent more). The additional revenue on account of excess generation is Rs 36.37 crore, Rs 30.72 crore and Rs 11.30 crore for Larji, Bhaba and Bassi projects, respectively. Giri and other projects grossed additional revenue of Rs 12.56 crore and Rs 18.62 crore, respectively.
