Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) has installed 3,916 roof-top solar plants so far under the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme, generating 14 MW energy.
HPSEBL MD Sandeep Kumar said that a subsidy of Rs 29 crore had been released in 3,401 cases. “While consumers installing these plants are benefiting from the scheme, the board is getting additional clean electricity,” he said.
He further said the state had set a target of installing rooftop plants atop 38,000 houses in 2025-26. “The solar plants have been set up atop 2,050 houses so far in this financial year,” he said. Under this scheme, solar plants will be installed atop 90,000 houses in the state. This scheme was started on February 13, 2024 and 9,575 applications had been received from all districts for the scheme till now.
Having installed 955 plants under this scheme, Kangra is ahead of other districts. The scheme is being implemented with the help of 187 vendors in the state. “The households are getting a subsidy of Rs 33,000 for installing 1 KW plant, Rs 66,000 for two KW and Rs 85,800 for three KW and above,” said Kumar.
He further urged the domestic power consumers to install roof-top solar plants under this scheme to get the free electricity apart from getting extra income from extra power generation.
