The Himachal Pradesh Technical University (HPTU) secured the first rank in Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) implementation in the country. The TEQIP is a World Bank-sponsored programme that funds technical institutions. The HPTU had received over Rs 16 crore under the project. The second rank was grabbed by Dr Abdul Kalam Azad Technical University, Lucknow.
Prof SP Bansal, Vice Chancellor, HPTU, said the World Bank had adopted HPTU in 2017 and extended financial assistance for the improvement of technical education. He said the World Bank team conducted a survey in March in all institutions covered under the project. He said that the ranking was awarded on 66 parameters. The university topped in 53 parameters and secured the second place in 12.
Bansal said the university had built state of art technical facilities for students on the campus and encouraged its affiliated colleges to improve education.
