HPU appoints Asst Directors for newly created centres

Prof Mahavir Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU), has assigned duties of Assistant Directors to faculty members for the smooth functioning and operationalisation of three newly created centres at the university.

For the Ramanujan Centre for Indian Knowledge System and Indian Mathematics, Dr Manish Kumar Sharma, Assistant Professor in the Department of Forensic Science, has been appointed as Additional Director. Dr Rajesh Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Bio-Sciences, has been assigned to the Centre for Green Energy and Nanotechnology, while Dr Shamsher Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Education, has been given charge of the Centre for Pahadi Culture and Heritage.

An official order issued by the Vice-Chancellor stated that these Assistant Directors will be responsible for the day-to-day functioning of the centres along with their regular departmental duties, with immediate effect until further notice.

These three centres, along with two others, were inaugurated on the occasion of HPU’s 56th Foundation Day celebrated in July. The Centre for Green Energy and Nanotechnology will focus on research in clean energy and environmental conservation, supporting the state government’s vision of a ‘Green Himachal’. The Centre for Pahadi Culture and Heritage will work towards preserving and promoting Himachal’s folk traditions, art and cultural heritage on a global platform. Meanwhile, the Ramanujan Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems and Indian Mathematics aims to integrate traditional Indian mathematical knowledge with modern scientific innovation.
