In a remarkable achievement, two faculty members from Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) — Dr Pushap Lata Sharma, Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, and Dr Ajit Kumar, Assistant Professor in the Department of Evening Studies — have been granted an Indian Design Patent for their innovation titled “High Speed Homogeniser for Preparation of Nanofluid Suspension.”
This novel device is engineered to efficiently produce stable nanofluid suspensions, which are increasingly used in advanced thermal systems, medical technology, pharmaceuticals and electronics. By ensuring superior nanoparticle dispersion, the high-speed homogeniser significantly enhances the stability and thermal performance of nanofluids, contributing to energy efficiency and technological progress in various high-impact industries.
Prof Mahavir Singh, Vice-Chancellor of HPU, and Prof Rajinder Verma, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, extended heartfelt congratulations to the inventors. The Vice-Chancellor encouraged them to pursue further innovation, stating that such achievements bring pride and prestige to the university.
Dr Sharma and Dr Kumar expressed deep gratitude to the V-C for his unwavering support. They met him in the presence of Prof Meenakshi F Paul, Principal of the Evening Studies Centre, and Dr Shalini Gupta, Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics.
In another academic distinction for HPU, Dr Vipan Kumar Bhulal, Assistant Professor in the Department of Evening Studies, has successfully registered a copyright for his visionary work titled “Human Social Responsibility (HSR): An Approach Towards Society” with the Copyright Office, Government of India.
This original work introduces the concept of Human Social Responsibility (HSR), a practical and philosophical framework aimed at fostering ethical living, social harmony and environmental awareness. Aligned with several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the HSR concept offers a transformative approach for individuals to live more responsibly within families, communities and ecosystems.
Dr Bhulal emphasised the relevance of his work, stating, “This concept not only benefits society but also contributes meaningfully to the health of our environment. It teaches us how to truly be human and treat others — and nature — accordingly.”
These achievements underscore HPU’s growing role as a centre of academic excellence, research innovation, and social thought leadership.
