With an aim to provide financial help to those who suffered losses due to the recent natural disasters triggered by torrential rains, the teaching and non-teaching staff members of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) will donate their two days’ salary to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Earlier, HPU Vice-Chancellor Prof Mahavir Singh had announced the decision to donate his two days’ salary to the CM Relief Fund. The decision was taken during a meeting held under the chairmanship of the VC. During the meeting, it was unanimously decided that the university’s employees will donate two days’ salary to CM’s Relief Fund to support the victims of natural disasters that have affected various regions of the state.
The VC said all union representatives would meet Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and hand over the amount to the relief fund at the earliest. He said the normal life of inhabitants was affected and they collectively needed to help people who were without shelters and eatables.
