A 10-day training programme for the third-semester MBA (Rural Development) students of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) concluded today at Nagvain, with the support of the Technical Development Committee, Mandi.
The programme, held from February 2 to 11, saw participation from 24 students.
On the occasion of the closing ceremony, chief guest Dr. Kishore Khosla, Vice Chairman of the Technical Development Committee, Mandi, emphasised the importance of using scientific methods and technology in agriculture and horticulture to improve the lives of farmers in the face of climate change.
Secretary of the Technical Development Committee, Joginder Walia, shared that during the workshop, participants were introduced to various regional initiatives, including visits to the Regional Fruit Production and Research Centre, Agricultural Research Centre and the Upper Valley Farmer Producer Company. Additionally, they explored the Saroa Handloom Producer Company, Bhuttico Handicraft Organisation and the Society for Farmers, along with the activities of self-help groups involved in rural products and handicrafts.
District Manager of NABARD, Kullu, Anita, and Rakesh Verma from Mandi provided insights into rural development schemes currently active in the area. Former Seed Scientist Dr Satish Guleria discussed the critical role of improved seeds in rural development. The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates to all participants by the chief guest.
