HPU to start B.Sc course in AI, Data Science in colleges

Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) has decided to start B.Sc in AI and Data Science in its affiliated colleges. The decision was taken in a meeting of the Academic Council of the university held under the chairmanship of Vice-Chancellor Mahavir Singh.

The university will now send a proposal regrading the introduction of the degree course in colleges to the state government for necessary action. The Vice-Chancellor said at the meeting that the Academic Council meetings should be held regularly so that decisions regarding the addition of any activity to the curriculum could be made.

The council approved the doubling of the completion period for undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses being pursued at the ICDEOL, effective from January 27, 2022. It also gave nod to the placement of five research centres under various faculties.

A detailed discussion was held over the research staff working in the university, including Senior Research Officer, Research Officer and Project Officer. The meeting also approved all recommendations of the standing committee.

The council approved a partial revision of the syllabus of MTTM, MHM, MA (Physical Education) and M.Ed courses. It also gave approval to the revised examination system for PhD and M.Sc (Mathematics) and projects in various subjects.

Besides, the council approved the introduction of part-time PhD programmes, as per the UGC regulations. It also gave nod to the introduction of a PhD degree with the DRDO under joint supervision. It approved remuneration for assistant scribes during examinations for PhD students. Meanwhile, Bhupendra Singh Thakur, Principal of Theog college, was unanimously elected a member of the Executive Council.
