The Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has won honours in the National Public Bus Transport Excellence Awards for hilly region. The state has bagged four awards, finishing on the top in one category, and has been adjudged runners-up in three categories.
The state won the top position in the ‘Tyre Performance Award’. It finished runners-up in the category of ‘Digital Transactions Award’, ‘Vehicle Utilization Award’ and ‘Employee Productivity Award’. The award will be given in New Delhi on March 8.
The HRTC is the only mode of transportation for a majority of people in the hills state. It operates in the tough hilly terrain. The awards will boost the HRTC management and staff to continue providing efficient and reliable services to the people.
The corporation operates a diverse fleet of buses, including air-conditioned super luxury buses, electric buses and ordinary buses. Currently, the HRTC is in the middle of refurbishing its fleet and adding a significant number of electric buses to its fleet of over 3,000 buses.
