Himachal Road Transport Corporation suspends 10 routes to Punjab

State government in touch with Punjab as HRTC buses vandalised

Even as Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) has suspended 10 routes to Punjab following the targeting of its buses at several places in Punjab over the last two days, Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today said that he had spoken to Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Maan, who had assured to take strict action against the miscreants.

"The DGP-level officers will discuss to take action on the issue," the Chief Minister said, adding that police security will be provided to the buses if required.

In a statement in the House over the matter, Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri, who is also the Minister for Transport, the state government was in touch with the Punjab government and administration over the issue.

"The state government has deployed corporation officials at all important bus stands in Punjab to monitor the situation," he said.

He further said that an HRTC bus was stopped by a car without number plate on Kharar flyover and the window panes were broken by miscreants.

"An FIR has been registered in this regard at Kharar police station and the Mohali SSP has said that security will be provided to our buses," he said.

In a similar incident near Sirhind stones were pelted on an HRTC bus.
