The Driver and Conductor Union of Himachal Pradesh Road Transport (HRTC) has called of its proposed 72-hour strike from Sunday midnight following discussions with Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri in Shimla today.
After the union called off the strike, Agnihotri said the state government and the HRTC remained dedicated and committed to serving the people of the state. The Union had given a notice for the 72-hour strike over the pending night overtime dues of over Rs 100 crore with the government.
Agnihotri said the salaries and pension of the HRTC employees and pensioners were being disbursed every month without delay. “The state government has extended the benefits of the old pension scheme to the HRTC employees and recently released Rs 5 crore for overtime allowance. An additional Rs 10 crore for overtime allowances would be disbursed shortly to the corporation,” he added.
