In the press release issued here today, the foundation, a collective of the residents of the area, said that the expansion project will destroy the agricultural land of the area and threaten the livelihood of the locals.

Alternative development plans can be made

  • The Chaudhary Foundation said that proposed expansion involves the acquisition of significant agricultural land around the airport.
  • This will not only threaten food security, but also deprive the farmers of their source of livelihood.
  • The foundation called upon parties concerned to reconsider the project.
  • It believes that alternative development plans can be made.

“The Gaggal region, known for its rich agricultural tradition that has been passed down for generations, will be destroyed,” the foundation said.

Choudhary Foundation maintained that it is receiving huge support from across the country as well as from citizens living abroad.

The hunger strike on March 10 is an effort by the Chaudhary Foundation and the people of the area to raise their voice against the expansion of the airport. The purpose of the hunger strike is to draw the attention of the government and aviation authorities to the disastrous consequences of the project.

The foundation urged the residents of the area, environment activists, social workers and all those who stand against this destructive project to join the hunger strike. “By uniting we can raise our voices and protect the future of the Gaggal,” the foundation said.
