The process of issuing identification cards to 1,362 families affected by the Shri Renuka Ji Dam Project is nearing completion, according to the Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (HPPCL). These identification cards are essential for officially recognising affected families and ensuring they receive due benefits and compensation.

To facilitate the process, the HPPCL organised 18 camps across various panchayats, ensuring that every affected family had access to the registration process. The work of issuing identification cards has been assigned to a specialised agency, which is expected to complete the task by March 30.

For families who could not complete their ID registration in the first phase, the project management has announced an additional three-day camp from March 18 to March 20, at the project office. E. Sanjeev Kumar, Executive General Manager of the Shri Renuka Ji Dam Project, and Senior Manager Dr Neeraj Singhal stated that efforts are being made to inform all affected families about this additional opportunity. Those who missed the initial registration are urged to visit the project office during the specified dates.

Affected families must bring Aadhaar cards of the head of the family and their spouse, along with any other documents required for verification as per project guidelines. Families that have not yet obtained their ID cards are strongly advised to attend the upcoming camp to ensure their registration is completed.

The Shri Renuka Ji Dam Project is a crucial infrastructure initiative aimed at boosting water supply and hydroelectric power generation. However, it has significantly impacted several families due to land acquisition and displacement. The completion of the ID card issuance will be a critical step in ensuring affected families receive the necessary support and entitlements. Authorities have urged all concerned families to participate in the process promptly to avoid further delays in accessing rehabilitation benefits.
