Identify parking zones in wards, CM’s Adviser tells Hamirpur MC

It was decided at a meeting of the Hamirpur Municipal Corporation to identify potential parking sites in every ward on priority.

“People living in areas under the jurisdiction of the Hamirpur Municipal Corporation (MC) should not face any parking problems and the civic authorities must identify parking sites in every ward,” said Sunil Sharma, Political Adviser to the Chief Minister, while addressing a meeting here today. He directed the MC officials to identify potential parking sites in every ward on priority and encourage residents to obtain and connect sewerage lines, where required.

The meeting also focused on improving infrastructure, beautification and citizen-oriented initiatives in the newly-formed MC. Notably, 13 gram panchayats were merged in the MC and its area of jurisdiction increased by four times, as over 50,000 people were covered.

Sharma stressed the need for proper maintenance and beautification of city locations and proposed establishing open air gyms in parks to promote public health and recreation. He said that the corporation had received a grant of Rs 2 crore from the State Finance Commission, Rs 10.73 lakh through the district administration and Rs 3 crore from the State Disaster Relief Fund for improving the drainage system.

Sharma said that projects worth Rs 1.81 crore were currently under implementation and that works worth Rs 58.68 lakh had been completed with the help of Rs 69.36 lakh grant received this year. He also revealed plans for the construction of a street food hub near the Bhota Chowk and instructed officials to expedite all procedures required for it.

Ajay Sharma, Chairman of the APMC; Rakesh Sharma, Municipal Commissioner; Ram Prasad, Additional Commissioner, and other civic officers attended the meeting.
