IGMC suspends 2 trainee doctors on ragging charge
According to reports, the incident occurred a few days ago when the trainee doctors took newly admitted students into the hostel, despite the latter not being allotted accommodation there
Two trainee doctors at Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC), Shimla, have been suspended for allegedly ragging first-year students inside the college hostel premises, in violation of institutional rules.
According to reports, the incident occurred a few days ago when the trainee doctors took newly admitted students into the hostel, despite the latter not being allotted accommodation there. The first-year students reportedly stayed inside the hostel for a brief period before being noticed by hostel authorities, who promptly alerted the college’s Disciplinary Committee.
The IGMC rules strictly prohibit entry into hostel premises by students who have not been officially allotted rooms. Following an inquiry, the Disciplinary Committee concluded that while the incident did not constitute severe ragging, it amounted to misconduct warranting disciplinary action. As a result, the two trainee doctors have been suspended for a period of three months, during which the disciplinary order will remain in force.
