The Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMC) is hopeful of starting a bone marrow transplant facility soon on its premises. “We have the required doctors and departments for starting this facility. Hopefully, we will be able to start this soon enough,” said IGMC MS Janak Raj.

The MS said many other facilities were added at the hospital in 2020. “We have started Biplaner DSA and inter-ventional radiology, super specialty courses have been started in neurosurgery and gastrology, 10-bedded medical ICU has been set up, new departments for pain and palliative care, surgical oncology and rheumatology and clinical hematology have been started,” he added.

He said the IGMC did not shut OPDs even during the pandemic so that non-Covid patients did not suffer. Praising the entire hospital staff for providing care to patients while risking their own lives, he said 358 hospital staff had contracted the virus till date. — TNS
